  • Is Retirement Right for me?
    Royal Oak Senior Living offers an independent or assisted lifestyle to those who want freedom from the chores of home maintenance or cooking, and the comfort of knowing that our staff is available (if needed) 24/7 Our Director of Healthy Living will conduct a health assessment to see if our setting is right for you .
  • Will I have the freedom to do what I want when I want?
    You will enjoy our setting with the same degree of freedom you would have in any apartment building or private home. You can come and go as you please. There are no restrictions, and it’s up to you how want to spend your time. For security reasons, we do ask that you let us know if you plan to be away for any length of time. This gives you, and us, peace of mind.
  • Do suites come furnished or unfurnished?
    All our suites come unfurnished. We want residents to feel comfortable: They should be surrounded by familiar furniture that they love or new furniture that suits their style.
  • Do you sign a lease?
    Yes. Our leases are yearly leases, renewed on yearly basis of if something changes in your circumstances a 60-day notice will suffice. For shorter programs and respite we have different arrangements.
  • What is included in my monthly lease?
    Your monthly rate includes your in-suite accommodation, nutritious meals and snacks, amenity and outdoor space, weekly housekeeping and linen laundry services, TV and basic cable, phone, internet, emergency call bell, kitchenette with microwave and full size-fridge, window coverings, bathrooms with showers. Safety bars on designated units, laundry facility. We offer regular health assessments, and personalized wellness services can be provided based on short- or long-term needs. Choose from a wide range of recreational and fitness programs designed to meet your individual preferences.
  • Do you offer short-term stays?
    Yes. Our short-term stay program is excellent for recovery after illness or surgery or a short-term trial stay. We offer fully furnished suites equipped with telephone and cable television. Meals and care are included in the daily cost.
  • Do you offer guest suites?
    While short-stay suites may be able to accommodate guest, we do not have specific suites reserved for guests at this time. Please ask the receptionist about bookings in advance of your guest’s visit. If you feel you have room in your suite, your guests are welcome to stay with you overnight and we are able to accommodate with meals at additional cost.
  • What kind of activities can I expect?
    We offer a resident driven holistic approach in our programming. Focusing on 6 domains of wellness, programs vary from physical, social, spiritual, emotional, environmental, and cognitive. DrumFit, Yoga, Music Entertainment, Shopping Trips, Social Hour, Educational Seminars, Arts & Crafts, Horticultural, Travelogues, Card Games, Church Services and so much more.
  • Do you offer alternative transportation for outings?
    Yes. We offer transportation in our very own Royal Oak van to bring you to and back from various outings or appointments in the community.
  • Are the menus varied? What if I want a snack?
    Our chefs make several different delicious meals every day, along with several à la carte items. Everything is freshly prepared, and the menu varies according to the season and local market availability. If you feel like a beverage or snack, you can visit our front lobby bistro throughout the day or you can visit Harry’s Bar if you’re interested in pub fare.
  • Do you cater to special diets?
    We will work with you to provide options to accommodate your needs. All meals are nutritionally balanced and you are able to choose from a variety of healthy and delicious meals. Our culinary team is available to discuss and review healthy meal choices.
  • What happens if my health needs change?
    Our services evolve to meet changing needs. That means personalized services are available to you when you need them. As you require additional support, we’ll work with you and your family to develop a plan that’s right for you, with the support of our team of registered nurses and personal support workers.
  • Is there Staff on duty at all times?
    Yes. We have staff on site 24/7
  • Can my family come and visit?
    We welcome friends and family to visit at any time. Due to COVID-19 protocols, we currently require all visitors to conduct a negative COVID-19 rapid test upon entry. Conditions subject to health regulations.
  • Are there visiting hours?
    There are no set visiting hours, the residents can entertain guests whenever they like. For the safety of our residents, we lock our front doors after hours but have reception services until 8 pm. Guests may gain access by ringing the doorbell and speaking to one of our service team members, and then they are required to sign in and out of our guest registry at the front desk. Due to COVID-19 protocols, we may implement visiting hours to ensure safe, equal access for all guests. Please contact us for the most up-to-date information.
  • What is the cost for guests to join a resident at mealtime?
    We welcome friends and family to join for any meal of the day. Based on your preference, we would be pleased to set up the private dining area or have you join in the dining room. Cost for meals fluctuates based on group size and type of meal provided. We suggest speaking with the receptionist in advance to find out the cost.
  • Are Pets allowed?
    Although pets are not allowed to stay, we do allow pet visits provided proper vaccination documentation.
  • Can I bring my car? Is there a fee?
    Yes, you can bring your car and park it on site at no cost.
  • Can I continue to see my own doctor?
    Yes. We encourage residents to keep their physicians as we do not have a doctor on site.
